My story
Hi there, I’m Lachlan
I’m a software engineer based in Melbourne, Australia, with over a decade of experience in tech. I graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2013 with a Bachelor of Computing, originally starting in a combined Computing and Sciences degree before focusing on what I truly loved—software.
After uni, I moved to Melbourne and landed my first role with a brilliant and creative team in South Melbourne. Since then, I’ve worked across fintech, startups, and a fast-growing BNPL company, gaining experience in both structured corporate environments and fast-paced, high-growth teams. These days, I’m working in EduTech in Hawthorn, building tools that help schools succeed every day.
What I love most about software is the power to improve lives—making things easier, faster, and more accurate. It’s a space where you can be creative while still following structure, standards, and best practices that are recognised worldwide. I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible teams that push each other to do their best, and I value how globally connected this industry is—you can build great things from almost anywhere.
I’m especially grateful for the diverse and talented people I’ve worked with—many of whom have migrated to Australia and brought fresh perspectives to the table. I’ve been given time and trust to dive deep into topics like security, privacy, and legal frameworks, and I’ve had increasing autonomy to guide my own work, supported by mentors whose advice still sticks with me.
Outside of work, I’m a passionate entrepreneur. Over the last decade, I’ve built projects across social media (MapMyPhotos), IoT (Drone Surveyor), workforce SaaS (ChronoSheets), and ecommerce/content management (Music Powered). When I’m not building something, you’ll find me on a bushwalk, wandering around lakes, or exploring new countries with a camera in hand.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Melbourne, ChronoSheets is a flexible timesheet solution designed for small to medium businesses.
